Amanda Brugel
(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a sleepy community on that part of the island of Montreal called"the West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word frequently think that it's an island that's to the west of Montreal but in fact the West Island is home to every aspect of the Lachine city. Lachine west. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time there was short. Brugel was raised on Courtice located just outside Oshawa located in Ontario. She was determined to be a professional dancer, but due to an explosive growth spurt she outgrew every dance partner she met. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was 6 feet 1 inches tall. When I grew out of male companions at that point, I gave up. Many former dancers turn to acting and in the case of Brugel it was the result of a recommendation from her drama teacher. She was encouraged to take part in an audition in a school production. After a few auditions her options, she was eventually the main character for Anne of Green Gables. She was given the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship to go to York University's Theatre Program and graduated at the age of 20 with a Bachelor's of Fine Arts. Over the last 20 years, Brugel's work has been seen on both the large and small screen. She gained the most attention when she won her role as Rita in the acclaimed television series The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel is the sole Canadian on the season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
